My Wedding Details

Written By Katie

In the seven months that we had to plan our wedding, I put a lot of thought and care into each of the details of our wedding.  Our playful vintage wedding was everything I could have imagined and so much more.  The wedding was a celebration of love, and about how two people become one, which in turn became the monogram for our entire wedding.  I hope you enjoy a little peek at the details that went into our special day.

I collected antique glass containers from various antique stores in St. Louis.  I had two beautiful glass canisters in addition to the smaller dishes I found in green and blue below to place around the foyer area in the Westin.  We filled them with pretzels and cocktail mix for all of our guests to enjoy for the night.

Below is a picture of our cake which was a yellow cake with raspberry filling.  And just as a FYI if you live anywhere near Mid Rivers Mall Dr., Ozenkoski’s Bakery has the best gooey butter cake and dinner rolls around. There are a lot of great bakeries in St. Louis but the couple that runs this bakery are so nice.  I also brought in the design of the cake I wanted, and they worked with me to create something they hadn’t done before, and I think it turned out AMAZING.  🙂

I love chocolate.  And there is nothing better than Ferrero Rocher. Period.  I recreated an place card idea I had seen floating around the web, but updated it to go with our invitation suite.  Also, I wanted something easier and sturdier than the toothpick that others had used.  It took a long time to find what we were looking for but we finally got the answer we needed from the owner of The Daily Bread Bakery & Cafe.  You can find the metal picks used below at Hubert.  They worked perfectly for these place cards and I could make each place card beforehand so they just needed to be put in the chocolate right before the reception.  Each of the place cards were printed on cardstock, and cut out using a big die-cut scalloped edge oval that I purchased from Archiver’s.

This is a little sneak peek at my invitation suite design.  The table numbers carried the theme to the reception and worked well with the lime green runners from Sitting Pretty/Party Arts.

I can’t believe you planned your wedding in 7 months. We got engaged back in February 2009 and I could NOT even fathom planning a wedding for last Fall. My Type A personality would not let me do it.
